Devil's Tower & The Badlands

In March I took a backpacking trip with 3 of my best friends, Dave, Emily and Kristin. We drove 16 hours from Saint Louis, MO to Devil's Tower, WY. After a day at the tower we drove a few more hours to The Badlands, SD. The trip is really unexplainable in words, but we had a lot of fun climbing up places we probably shouldn't have climbed, laughing way too hard and huddling together in a tent to keep warm from the chilling wind.

A big portion of the trip, I didn't bring my camera because I didn't want to carry the extra weight, but sometime soon there could be a montage of the trip on Dave's Youtube channel at:

6 am - Devils Tower

Trekking to the edge of the tree line to feel the warmth of the sun.

 The crew.

Circling around the tower.

Ahhh, the sun.

Break time!

Badlands campground.

Bad. Lands.

"I think I can see our campsite."

Always trying to get the highest view.

Going Steady - Death From Above 1979 - Animation

This project is really just a test for something more refined. I haven't had this much fun doing a project, mainly because of it's informality and I got to hang and joke around with my brother and mom. My brother played a big part in setting up and shooting the video. We didn't have fancy equipment, besides our DSLR's, so we had to improvise.

No green screen? How about tissue paper? Quickly I found out the even with multiple layers of tissue paper, it sucked up light and washed it out. I had to find something else that could work.

Originally, I wanted to shoot in a space with very controlled lighting, but the ceilings weren't high enough to prop up the camera.

Everything was moved outside.

The green screen problem was solved by using trash bags.

We used dumpsters to raise the camera above the kit.

Moments before take 1.

Again, special thanks to my brother Dominic and my mom for taking pictures!

Blast From The Past: Space Marine

I visited my grandma when I was in St. Louis and she is one of the few people that constantly believed in me and my artwork. She has A LOT of my artwork, both new and old. I was just looking back at some of the stuff she had and I found a series of drawings I did in high school of a Space Marine from Warhammer 40k. The proportions were all wrong and it was just a pencil drawing. So I decided to snap a few pictures for reference and redo the series. I'm starting with the first Space Marine of the series that I drew.

The new image doesn't have all the badges/medals/symbols because, for the narrative sake, I want to complete the series then go back again to add everything so they are all accurate to one another.

New Dumb Thing: Issue 1

This has been Dan Goedeker's (instagram: dan_goedeker) baby for over a year now. He has put together a zine of a compilation of various peoples work and personal stories. I did a teeny, tiny illustration, but there are some really great moments in here.
